EPA Approves the East Canyon 2010 319 Proposal

The Environmental Protection Agency has approved the East Canyon Watershed Committee's application for funding to continue its stream restoration and monitoring work.  $50,000 of federal Section 319 money will be available in April to complete the work described in the project work plan.  The work plan is available here:  Approved_East_Canyon_Creek_Phase_IV_319_2-16-10.pdf

East Canyon Pipeline Project

The Bureau of Reclamation has released its Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact on the East Canyon Reservoir Water Intake Structure project.  The intake structure and pipeline will convey up to 12,500 acre-feet of water per year from East Canyon Reservoir to Summit Water Distribution Company's East Canyon Water Treatment Plant for culinary use in the Park City/Snyderville Basin area.

East Canyon Watershed Committee Recieves Federal Stimulus Funding

The Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District, on behalf of the East Canyon Watershed Committee, applied for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds in order to conduct stream restoration work along East Canyon Creek.  The Utah Water Quality Board fully funded their $300,000 proposal.  Actual stream work utilizing these funds will commence in the spring of 2010.
